AML & KYC Policy - Anti-Money Laundering at Shark Earnings

Last updatedSeptember 7, 2026

  • Registration Number: LL0003387 (British Columbia, Canada)
  • Responsible person: Stark Krisztián (Compliance Officer)
  • Compliance contact: compliance@sharkearnings.com

This Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) Policy explains how Shark Earnings LLP ("Shark Earnings", "the Company", "we", "us", or "our") prevents its platform from being used for money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, fraud, or any other financial crime. It applies to every user of https://sharkearnings.com (the "Site"), to every person who withdraws rewards from the platform, and to every advertiser who runs campaigns on it.

By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to the controls described in this policy. This policy forms part of our Terms of Service and should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. Who We Are and What This Policy Covers

Shark Earnings LLP is a limited liability partnership registered in British Columbia, Canada under registration number LL0003387, operating the rewards platform at https://sharkearnings.com. Users earn by completing offers, surveys, and tasks provided by third-party partners, and are paid out in cash-equivalent rewards such as PayPal transfers, gift cards, prepaid cards, and cryptocurrency.

We are not a bank, a money services business, a payment institution, or a custodian of customer funds. We do not accept deposits from users, we do not hold funds on deposit, we do not offer exchange, remittance, or money transmission services, and no user can move value to another user through our platform. A user balance is a record of rewards earned on our platform, not a stored-value account.

Where we are not subject to a registration or reporting obligation under applicable law, we nonetheless apply the controls set out in this policy as a matter of internal policy, because a rewards platform that pays out real money is inherently exposed to abuse and we intend to close that door.

2. Compliance Framework

Our procedures are built on the following frameworks and standards:

  • The recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on money laundering and terrorist financing
  • Canadian anti-money laundering legislation, in particular the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and the published guidance of the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC), applied on a risk-based basis
  • Canadian sanctions legislation, including the United Nations Act, the Special Economic Measures Act (SEMA), and the Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Act
  • Internationally recognised sanctions programmes, including those of the United Nations, the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the European Union, and the United Kingdom (OFSI)
  • Applicable data protection law, including Canada's PIPEDA, British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act, and the GDPR for users in the EU and EEA

Our Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada. Because our users are located in more than 160 countries, we also respect mandatory local requirements that apply to a user's own jurisdiction.

3. Internal Controls and Platform Restrictions

A number of controls are built into how the platform works, so that the most common laundering patterns are simply not possible here:

  • No physical cash. We never handle, accept, or pay out physical cash under any circumstance.
  • No deposits. Users cannot fund, top up, or load their account balance. Every credit on a user balance originates from a completed and verified reward activity.
  • No peer-to-peer transfers. Users cannot send, gift, trade, or transfer balances, rewards, or accounts to each other. There is no internal transfer function, by design.
  • No third-party payouts. Withdrawals must be made to a payment destination belonging to the verified account holder. Paying out to another person's PayPal account, card, or wallet is prohibited.
  • One account per person and per household. Multiple accounts, shared accounts, and account sales or transfers are prohibited and are actively detected.
  • No anonymised access. The use of VPNs, proxies, the Tor network, datacenter IPs, emulators, virtual machines, and other location-masking or device-spoofing techniques is prohibited.
  • No disposable identities. Registration with disposable or temporary email addresses is blocked, and offers completed with fake, temporary, or misleading personal information are prohibited.
  • Electronic, traceable payouts only. All withdrawals are processed through regulated payment providers or established cryptocurrency processors, and every transaction is recorded.

Each of these restrictions is also a binding rule under our Terms of Service. We may delay, refuse, reverse, or investigate any transaction that raises suspicion, and we may restrict, hold, or suspend an account while we do so. We are not required to give advance notice of an investigation, and we are not required to explain the reason for a document request or a refusal.

4. Identity Verification (KYC)

We apply a risk-based approach to identity verification.

Biometric verification is mandatory before any withdrawal. All users must complete a real-time facial verification (Face Match) through our third-party identity provider, including a liveness check, before withdrawal services become available. The use of photographs, recordings, deepfakes, altered images, or any attempt to bypass the liveness check results in immediate account termination and forfeiture of the balance.

Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) is applied where the risk profile requires it, including but not limited to:

  • Users resident in a jurisdiction that is comprehensively sanctioned, or that the FATF has identified as high-risk. Every withdrawal request is checked against this list automatically
  • Accounts showing unusual earning or withdrawal patterns, or patterns consistent with structuring across several accounts
  • Advertisers funding campaigns above routine amounts, or whose promoted business falls into a higher-risk category

If verification is not completed, or if it fails, access to withdrawals and to parts of the Services may be restricted or refused.

5. Documents We May Request

We may request identification and supporting documents from any user, in particular where activity has been flagged as suspicious, where a withdrawal is selected for review, or where enhanced due diligence applies. Requests are made at our discretion and without prior explanation, and may include any of the following:

  • A valid government-issued photo identification document
  • Proof of address matching your registered residence, dated within the last 90 days (utility bill, bank statement, tax document, or official government correspondence)
  • A selfie photograph holding your identification document next to your face
  • Your full legal name and date of birth as they appear on official documents
  • Information on the source of funds or source of wealth, where an advertiser funds campaigns or where account activity warrants it
  • Any further documentation reasonably required for compliance, sanctions screening, or fraud prevention purposes

We may verify the authenticity of submitted documents through third-party verification services, and may contact the issuing authority where necessary. Requests are non-negotiable for continued access to withdrawal services.

6. Advertiser and Ad Credit Controls

Advertisers running campaigns on our Tasks marketplace are subject to the same principles:

  • Ad Credit has no cash value and cannot be withdrawn. It can only be spent on campaign completions and associated platform fees. It is not a stored-value or prepaid account and cannot be converted back into cash, cryptocurrency, or any other payout method.
  • Ad Credit is funded either by converting an existing Shark Earnings balance or through a top-up arranged directly with us. We may refuse any top-up without explanation.
  • Every campaign is reviewed by our staff before it goes live, and campaigns promoting prohibited, illegal, deceptive, or high-risk activity are rejected.
  • We may request identification and source of funds information from any advertiser, and may suspend advertiser access where that information is not provided.

This structure means the platform cannot be used to place funds in and take clean funds out: money that enters as Ad Credit can only ever leave as rewards paid to identity-verified users who completed genuine work.

7. Your Responsibilities as a User

These obligations apply in addition to, and are enforceable under, our Terms of Service. By using the Services you confirm that:

  • You are acting on your own behalf and not for or on behalf of any undisclosed third party
  • Your use of the Services and the earnings you receive are lawful in your own jurisdiction, and you are legally eligible to earn income there
  • All information and documentation you provide is true, accurate, current, and complete
  • You are solely responsible for declaring your earnings and paying any applicable taxes in your jurisdiction
  • You accept that your account information may be disclosed to competent authorities where we are legally required to do so

8. Restricted and Prohibited Activity

The following are strictly prohibited, in addition to the prohibited activities already set out in our Terms of Service, and will result in account termination, forfeiture of balances, and where appropriate a report to the competent authorities:

  • Using the platform to launder proceeds of crime, to finance terrorism, or to evade sanctions
  • Withdrawing to, or funding from, cryptocurrency mixers, tumblers, anonymising services, or wallets associated with sanctioned entities or illicit activity
  • Structuring: splitting activity across multiple accounts, devices, households, or payout destinations to stay below review thresholds or to circumvent limits
  • Providing false, borrowed, stolen, or synthetic identity information or documents
  • Buying, selling, renting, or sharing accounts, or completing offers on behalf of another person
  • Using the platform in connection with a high-risk or unlawful business, including unlicensed financial services, unlicensed gambling, adult services, weapons, or controlled substances

9. Ongoing Monitoring, Holds, and Reporting

Monitoring does not stop once an account is verified. We operate automated fraud and risk detection across registration, earning activity, and withdrawals. Every signal below is generated and recorded automatically, and reviewed by our compliance and fraud team:

  • Identity and network risk scoring through our third-party verification provider, including automated fraud decisions and linked-account network analysis
  • Multi-account detection across device fingerprints, hardware signatures, shared devices, and household connections
  • Connection integrity checks on every reward event, including proxy, VPN, Tor, datacenter IP, and anonymising operator detection, with independent IP reputation scoring
  • Geolocation consistency checks between the country registered on an account and the connection the account is used from
  • Payout destination analysis, including detection of the same cryptocurrency address being reused across different accounts
  • Referral integrity analysis to detect self-referral rings and referral chains built on linked accounts
  • Velocity and behaviour analysis, including transaction bursts, abnormal daily activity volumes, and automated or scripted behaviour patterns
  • Partner reversal monitoring, since a pattern of reversed or charged-back rewards is itself a fraud indicator
  • Registration hygiene controls, including blocking of disposable and temporary email domains, and automatic blacklisting of IP addresses and devices linked to confirmed abuse

Rewards may also be placed under a holding period before they become withdrawable, based on the amount, the partner, and the risk profile of the account. Holding periods range from a few hours to several days. Withdrawal requests are queued for approval, and higher-risk cases are prioritised for manual review by our team.

Where activity is flagged, we may delay or refuse a withdrawal, request further documentation, reverse an incorrectly credited reward, or freeze an account pending review. Withdrawals are normally processed within 24 hours, but a transaction selected for manual review may take longer, and in exceptional cases up to 45 days. Reward reversals initiated by our partners (chargebacks) are also monitored as a risk signal.

Where we identify activity that we reasonably suspect is connected to money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, or other financial crime, we may report it to law enforcement and to the competent authorities, including FINTRAC where applicable. We are not permitted, and do not undertake, to inform a user that such a report has been made.

If you become aware of suspicious activity on our platform, please report it to us at compliance@sharkearnings.com.

10. Sanctions Compliance

We do not knowingly provide services to any individual or entity that is subject to sanctions administered by the United Nations, Canada, the United States (OFAC), the European Union, or the United Kingdom, nor to any person located in a comprehensively sanctioned territory.

We maintain the consolidated sanctions lists of all five of those authorities and screen against them. Cryptocurrency withdrawal addresses are checked automatically against the sanctioned-address list on every request, and the jurisdiction check runs automatically on every withdrawal; name screening is carried out on a risk basis by our compliance team.

Where a user is identified as sanctioned or as located in a restricted territory, the account is blocked, withdrawals are stopped, and the balance is frozen. We also reserve the right to restrict or terminate access from specific countries, regions, devices, or networks at any time, without prior notice, on legal, regulatory, security, or business grounds.

11. Cooperation with Authorities

We respond to lawful requests from law enforcement, regulators, tax authorities, and courts, and we cooperate with competent authorities in Canada and internationally. Where we are legally required to disclose user information, we do so within the scope of the request and, where permitted, we retain records of the disclosure.

12. Record Keeping and Data Protection

Identity documents submitted for verification are securely destroyed after successful verification, unless applicable law (financial regulation, anti-money laundering legislation, or tax requirements) requires them to be retained. Where retention is legally required, records are stored securely with restricted access and destroyed once the legal obligation expires.

Personal data processed under this policy is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law. Information collected for AML and KYC purposes is used for identity verification, fraud prevention, sanctions screening, and legal compliance, and is disclosed only where legally required or where necessary to prevent financial crime.

13. Governance and Updates

This policy is reviewed periodically and whenever there is a material change to our services, our payout methods, or the legal requirements that apply to us. We may update it at any time, and the version published on this page is the version in force. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the current policy.
